Road Warrior

Last week was unfortunately a busy week for our family. Saturday started off great by my parents coming for a visit, but Saturday evening we received a very sad phone call. Jack's dear aunt, Aunt Sissy, passed away unexpectedly. She was such a sweet lady and was taken from us way too early; she will be dearly missed!

Katelyn enjoyed spending time with her Grandpa and Grandma W. She warmed up to them very quickly and had fun showing them all her new tricks :)

We cut our visit short with my parents and headed back to MO for the funeral. This is where our travels for the week began:

Tuesday was a 12 hour day of driving of which Katelyn did quite nicely.

Before the trip to MO was planned we had already made plans to go to a wedding in Washington DC for a friend of Jack's from high school. So on Thursday we headed east. We drove to Lexington, KY (6 hours) and visited Ryan, Ashlaine, Makara, and Kinley. It was our first time meeting 6 week old Kinley and she sure is a cutie! Katelyn will have such a fun time visiting them when she gets old enough to play with the girls. Although she already had a good time playing with Makara; Makara made Katelyn laugh the hardest she has ever laughed!

On Friday, we drove the rest of the way to DC (8 hours). We stayed with Justin, Rachael, and Reagan at Justin's Aunt and Uncle's house. We always have so much fun spending time with them! The wedding was on Saturday morning and then reception followed. Then Saturday night we went on a boat ride down the Potomac River. It was neat seeing the monuments at night.

The weather was beautiful in DC and I wish I could have packed it in my suitcase and brought it back to Georgia. One of these days it will cool down here!

On Sunday we headed back to GA, a 10 hour drive. Katelyn did so well in all of our travels. She really is a road warrior. She has probably already been in more states than I had in the first 2o years of my life!

Katelyn's stats: 16 states, 5100 miles, and 88 hours in the car (not including daily drives).

Jibber Jabber

Katelyn has really found her vocal cords. She loves hearing herself talk and will go on like this for quite a while.

Our LITTLE girl

Katelyn had her 4 month appt and shots this morning. She didn't like this round anymore than she liked the last ones. Can't say I blame her though.

Here's her stats:
12.2# (19th%)
23.25 inches (16th%)
(I'm not sure about the length; I think she may be a bit longer but that's what the nurse got so we'll go with it. The Dr. said not to worry about the length because sometimes there are errors in measuring.)

So she continues to be our "little" girl. I had someone last week ask if she was almost a month old. What?!?! She doesn't look THAT little! She's just making sure we get lots of use out of her clothes!

Her battle wounds on each leg! ha

After her nap. I think she's already forgotten how pissed she was this morning!!

4 months

Yesterday, Katelyn was 4 months old! Our little girl is sure growing up and has seemed to accomplish so much this month. She is sleeping unswaddled, eating cereal, playing with her feet, jibber jabbering all the time and so much more!! I just love watching her change and seeing what new thing she is going to do next. I feel so fortunate to be able to stay home and see all these firsts!

She has her 4 month appointment on Wednesday so we'll have her "official" stats then. I can't wait to see how much she has grown but could do without the shots.

Hilton Head Island

This weekend we went up to Hilton Head Island to see some friends from Pittsburgh, PA. Justin and Rachael have a little girl that is a month older than Katelyn. Saturday we took the girls to the beach and they both went in the ocean for the first time. Katelyn wasn't so sure about it but Reagan loved it! Then the guys went golfing and the girls went shopping. We had a great time catching up with them and meeting lil Miss Reagan. The girls are going to have so much fun playing together when they get a little bit bigger!

I found them!

Katelyn has a new toy...her feet! She's been grabbing at them for about a week now but nothing that seemed intentional. Friday she decided they were pretty cool and has been playing with them all weekend long. They are her new found friends!

Night #2

For those of you following our swaddle saga.....last night was night #2 of being unswaddled and it was a success!! I think we are officially done with the blanket. She slept about the same as the night before, but I'm fine with that for now. I know she'll get to sleeping longer and longer.....or at least I'm hoping so!!

She also ate her cereal better yesterday then she did on Sunday. She started figuring out what to do with her tongue about halfway through. Maybe once she gets that down pat she'll be a sleeping beauty!!

Katelyn got to sit in her "big girl chair" last night. We say she's a big girl now because she's sleeping and eating like a big girl!! (You would think that she was potty trained with the way I'm so excited about her sleeping unswaddled!!!)
