Katelyn's favorite thing this week is to walk behind her lion. She gets awfully frustrated when she runs into a wall and can't get him turned around. So I end up chasing her all over the house turning her around. I think she's so darn cute toddling around and I can't wait until she doesn't need the lion anymore! I am just loving all these new things she's learning. It seems like it's something new everyday!

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way!
Our Battalion had an Easter Egg hunt today. I was very excited to let Katelyn crawl around in the grass and get her eggs; however, mother nature had other things planned - Rain! The bigger kids enjoyed playing in the rain and still found the 500+ eggs that were scattered around. So I guess Katelyn will have to wait until next year to do the hunt. She'll have more fun when she can walk anyways. But a special visitor made an appearance! The Easter Bunny!
And then she realized who was holding her and that was just not acceptable!

Not a Fan!
It appears that Katelyn is not a fan of swinging. I find this pretty hilarious because she's probably spent half of her life in a swing! I'm sure she'll come around, but on Saturday, no way!
She did however enjoy the wagon ride with her bestie, Emmalyn!
And just a few other pictures for giggles :)
She loves pushing the lion's nose and hearing him laugh; she's even starting to push him around some.
All ready for church! Notice her paci is on a string - she threw it over the communion rail one Sunday while I was holding her during communion. The pastor had to retrieve it for us! Needless to say, I was a bit embarrassed! I'm not letting that happen again!
She's figured out how to pull out the bins. I thought I was safe with putting some books in the top ones that I didn't really want her to have yet and also on top of the shelf. Well I was wrong. It's now a fun game to pull everything out from the shelf and empty the bins; especially after I have just picked it all up! I can't wait until she can help cleanup :)

CDC Update
Katelyn has been to the CDC (Child Development Center on post) 5 times in the past 2 weeks for only a couple hours each time. My hopes were to take her quite often in the beginning so she would get used to the people and room and then realize that other people besides me can take care of her!
The first couple of times were miserable for her and I'm sure the workers as well. She cried and cried and cried. In fact, when I returned at the end of the 2 hours, she was still crying. The workers kept saying, "just bring her back, bring her back." So I did.
Today was her 5th day and she did AMAZING!!! She cried when I first handed her over, but Ms. Kisha said that she gave it up really quickly and even was crawling around playing with other kids. She said she'd never seen her crawl before so that was very exciting for her!!! They played with bubbles and read her favorite book! I guess I'm going to have to get some bubbles for home because I guess she loved them and got very excited trying to catch them.
I am SOOO happy that she is adjusting and that it didn't take too long! Thank the Lord!

Home Sweet Home
If you've ever been to the South, you probably noticed that about every other house had those cute white rocking chairs on the front porch. Well, I've been wanting a pair of those cute white rocking chairs since we moved here. Last week I found some on Craig's List and finally picked them up today! They are a little older but nothing that a new coat of white paint can't fix! Now we fit in!!
(Also see that beautiful purple flag in between the rockers....that's right.......Go State!!! )

10 Months
Another monthly update. Katelyn's now 10 months old. I can't believe that I'll be saying she's 1 in only 2 months! Geez!!!
She seems to have grown into a big girl this past month! She is getting closer to drinking from a sippy cup, but she's just not sure she wants to make that big step yet! After buying several different kinds of cups, I think we may have found one that she likes. She's finally started picking up cheerios, puffs, and other little snack things but isn't so sure about baby food that has "chunks" in it or other "big girl" foods. One of these days she'll realize what she's missing!
We "ferberized" her while Jack was home on R&R and so far so good. *Knocking on wood* She now goes down for her naps and to bed without being rocked and if she wakes up in the middle of the night she goes right back to sleep. No more middle of the night snacks. It feels so good to get a full nights sleep!
She is a crawling machine and is walking around furniture like it's no ones business. She is letting go of things and able to stand for several seconds before falling down. Maybe walking by 1?!?
I have enrolled her at the CDC (Child Development Center) on post in the hourly care area. She went one day and didn't do the best but the lady assured me that all the other little ones acted the same way (cried off and on) until they got used to the environment. She is going 3 days this week and everyday next week for a couple hours each morning. I'm hoping she adjusts before too long and doesn't pitch a fit when she goes. I'm planning on continuing to take her after she gets the hang of it for a couple mornings each week so she can have interaction with all the other little kiddos....and so I can have a few free hours :)
She has gotten much harder to "photograph." The days of smiling and getting excited when the camera comes out are over I'm afraid. :( She doesn't want to sit still now; I think she's thinking "Mom, come on...get out of the way. I have other more important things to do!"
I love this stage and can't wait to see what she will pick up tomorrow! Each day is so fun!
We hope everything is going well for you all and happy that Spring is right around the corner!! :)
