Our Lil Candy Corn!

I saw a cute lil idea for an infant costume and it was candy corn. I thought that I could just make a dress out of it and what cuter than a candy corn dress for Katelyn. Of course, I had to make things a little harder on myself because I decided that the fabric was too thin so I lined it. I've not made many dresses before so the extra layer added a new element to everything. It didn't turn out perfect and I know how I should have done it but it is good enough for the few weeks of wear she'll get out of it. She was pretty excited to get to wear her new "Candy Corn" Dress!! And it was hit at school too!

Of course she couldn't just stand still....she had to "model" it for me!

Getting Ready for Baby Brother

I finally got my serger up and running so I've been making burp clothes, shirts for the kids to wear when Katelyn comes to the hospital to meet her baby brother for the first time and peepee tepees. Not sure how much or how well the tepees will work but they were fun to make so we'll give them a whirl. I know we're bound to be baptized many times but that is just the joy of a boy.

And doing anything productive in the baby's room with Katelyn in tow is almost next to impossible! She is so excited and anxious for baby to get here she wants to help with everything and dig all the gear out.
She was lining up all the bottles while I was trying to get them in the dish washer.
Helping wash bottles
I'm just as anxious for the lil guy to get here too. I'm not sure Katelyn really knows what she's in for. She may ask to put him back! There is no way she can really have any idea of how much her life is about to change. I'm sure she also thinks he's NEVER going to get here. We've only been talking about him forever! Well hopefully she isn't far from meeting him!!

A little sewing project

I got a sewing machine about a month ago and have had fun experimenting and making fun things. I made a dress for Katelyn first and after some altering because my model is a stick - I think it turned out pretty well (especially for the first project since ohhhh probably middle school home ec!)

My model was real cooperative so this is the best shot I could get!
I can't wait to make more fun dresses/outfits for her!
I'm in love with my sewing machine!

I made this...

Because St. Patrick's Day is such a big deal here.
The guys actually get a 4 day weekend for St. Patty's Day
and the parade in Savannah has over 100,000 people attend it.
It's one of the largest celebrations in the US.
I'll definitely be avoiding Savannah that weekend!

I saw this on a blog and thought it was so cute and so simple!
I love how it turned out!
I'm so excited to be able to make simple, cheap decorations!

Now we won't get pinched at this house! :)

Feeling Crafty

cLately I've been in the crafty mood. I've been following some blogs that had different cheap and easy Valentine's things on it so I thought I'd give them a try. Katelyn also got invited to a Valentine's Party so I had a reason to make some fun valentines for all the kiddos.

These are gum ball necklaces!

I made the heart wreath and the letters.
I'd put the wreath on the front door if only it wouldn't clash with it (it's maroon).

Next year when I have more time to decorate, these won't go next to each other. I also have been working on tissue paper rosette balls. I wanted to have 2 of them done for Valentine's Day to put on little pillars on the mantle, but they take forever and well...I didn't get them finished. I'm going to keep plugging away on them and have them ready for next year!
