A little more snow

 We got another couple of inches on last night. Today was our first day of Spring Break and there is snow on the ground. Katelyn really wanted to play in it but like all the other snows this winter there really wasn't enough to play in or build a snowman. I doubt it'll happen this winter, but maybe once we move to Kansas we'll get a substantial snow fall. But either way, she went out in it for a while and had fun, but boy was it chilly!

Maybe this will be the last snow for the year?? It is spring remember!!! I'm ready for spring like temperatures, but not summer temps. It's just so much to ask for!

Snow Day

Katelyn had her first "snow day" today. I remember as a kid how excited we were when we got a snow day because they were few and far between. I can probably count on 1 hand the number of days we got off for snow and now they seem to let them out if they are calling for snow. Must be nice! Anyways, I was not too excited that she got a snow day today because Jack has been gone since Monday and will be gone until next Friday and she's already out of school on Fridays. So, this  just meant we were going to have a LONNGG weekend. And the icing....Post was closed too. So, if Jack would have been here, he would of been home with us...in which case I would have been A-OK when this snow day. But I regress.......

So we made the best out of our stuck in the house day or 2 that it might turn out to be.
We made home made pizzas for lunch. We had recently gone to a friends house for lunch and she had an awesome pizza crust recipe so she passed it on. It was delicious and turned out great!

We didn't get "snow" but little ice pellets instead. This is the deck about early afternoon. Yuck!

And we did plenty of this during our snow day......staying warm on the couch while watching a movie.

But what is a snow day without venturing out to play....or try to play.

The ice was so solid that she didn't even make footprints when she walked.

And Will was not such a big fan of it. Too cold I guess.

We found a ruler and Katelyn measured how deep our "ice" was. We had to chisel a spot for her to stick it. 2 inches of mainly ice! Even though I was not too happy with the fact that she was out of school today, I was thankful that they made the right call and I didn't have to drive in that mess.

And then it was time to warm up by our 'fire'! I hope your snow day was nice and cozy like ours was. Hopefully the ice will start to thaw tomorrow so we aren't stuck in the house all weekend. I'll probably need to be admitted to the crazy house if so!  :)

MO Snow #2

This snow was the most we have received yet and was about 4 inches. Katelyn was once again VERY happy to wake up in the morning and look out the window to see snow! Katelyn and I went out in the morning and she made tracks and rolled all over the place. They released post early because of the road conditions so Jack was home mid afternoon and they went back out again. She was very perplexed to find that her tracks were gone and wanted to know where they went. Unfortunately, we don't have a sled so she wasn't able to participate in sledding, maybe we can get one for the next snow because I doubt this winter is over with!

Snow Angels

We got our first snow since living in our new place. It was so nice because Jack was still off so he didn't have to drive with the crazies. The woods behind our house were beautiful with all the trees covered in snow. Katelyn enjoyed making snow angels but it was REALLY cold out so she didn't last too long and was especially ready to come inside after she slipped on the ice.

 We went back to Jack's parents house for a few days until it was time for our BIG move and the next morning Katelyn and her cousin Sadie woke up to SNOW!! Katelyn was much more excited about it than Sadie. Snow is probably old hat for Sadie, but Katelyn on the other hand hasn't seen much snow in her short life.

Katelyn was pretty stoked to get out in the snow. We didn't have much snow gear accessible so we managed with what we had. Sadie wasn't too interested in playing so Katelyn and Daddy went out and had some fun - before she got too cold!

Hopefully we'll have much better snow to make snow men and make snow balls with once we get all settled in. Everyone keeps telling me that I'm crazy for wanting snow but I just want some for Katelyn to experience it all. I understand that driving in the snow with all the crazy people isn't so fun. At least Katelyn and I can just stay home and look at the window at the beautiful falling snow. 

Proof

This post is a little behind but we've been busy the last week. But here is proof that we had snow, look very closely......

Jack and I found it rather amusing at how this area dealt with what they were calling "Winter Storm 2010." They were calling for 1-3 inches of snow; however it had been 40+ degrees all week and it was above freezing when it was snowing so not much stuck-only on the vehicles and very little in the grass. Organizations and sports were canceling events and games left and right for the day of the snow and the following day. Savannah was all prepared for the "treacherous" roads by stocking up on sand and I'm guessing there plan was to stand on the back of flat bed trucks and shovel it onto the road (?) Quite a sight I'm sure! Ft. Stewart dumped piles of sand at the stop lights and I'm sure it's still there today! It had completely stopped snowing by the time we went to bed and of course it was all melted by morning. The kids in our neighborhood were out running around when it was snowing and probably hoping for inches.....I'm sure most of them had never seen snow before. Kind of sad!
