Water Gun Fight - sort of!

A few weekends ago Jack went back to his parents (when I and the kids went to KS) and brought back some of his toys from when he was little. How awesome is it that he still has a lot of this stuff?!? He brought back some metal trucks and cars - ones that you can't find anymore because everything is junk plastic.

Well, who remembers super soakers? I sure do!! And I remember having water gun fights with the neighbors, although, they always had much bigger super soakers than we had and didn't have to refill them as often, so we usually got ambushed. Oh well, it was fun and great memories.

 

Jack was excited to show Katelyn the water guns and she was pretty stoked to play with them too, until she realized that she was going to get wet. When has this ever been a problem before?? I'm not sure. I guess she was confused that she was in regular clothes and getting wet. We told her repeatedly that it was fine to get wet, we would change them when we went inside but she just got upset EVERY time she got shot. So the water guns will just have to wait I guess.

It was a little difficult for her to push the trigger on. Just a little too big for her and too heavy when it was full of water. She could make it work better if I pulled the trigger initially.

Will's participation....poor guy...one of these days. Watch out Katelyn!

Maybe if we got her a water gun that was more her size she would have more fun and be ok with getting wet. Who knows! Sometimes she can be ok with getting SO dirty and other times she's such a miss priss!

Splash Park

We went to the Splash Park on post last week to try to cool down a bit.

Fourth of July Part 2

On the 4th of July, Ft. Stewart had a big celebration during the day and a concert that night. Fantasia and the Zac Brown Band came!!! The activities during the day were great! Although it was hot out, everything was free! Tons of restaurants from Hinesville set up and there was free food everywhere - any kind you might like! We met Emmalyn and her parents there and the girls enjoyed the petting zoo and getting their faces painted.

Katelyn was pretty excited about her puppy balloon.
She placed with it for quite a while before it eventually came untied
but she still called it a puppy even though it looked more like a snake!

When we headed over to the face painting tent, I was a little nervous!
I didn't think she'd sit still or even allow them to paint on her face.
Man was I wrong!
She sat sooo still for what seemed like FOREVER!
I thought this lady was NEVER going to finish!

At her first concert!
She was a great sport and lasted for the end of Fantasia and all but 15 minutes of the ZBB.
The fireworks were after the concert, so we headed back to the car a few minutes early and found a great parking spot and enjoyed the 30 minute firework show post put on!
I thought it was going to go on all night!

She still asks to go see fireworks and Booms every once and a while!

Fourth of July Day 1

We had a great Fourth of July weekend! Plenty of family time! We went to some friends house on Saturday and spent the evening with them. Enjoyed some yummy dinner, the kids did a few fireworks and then watched the city's firework display. Katelyn did well, love the "Booms" and stayed up real late that night!

Of course the girls loved throwing the poppers down or stepping on them.

She wasn't scared of them at all, and I was very surprised by that!
Guess she's getting to be quite the little dare devil!

Jekyll Island

Last weekend we went to Jekyll Island, GA with some friends. We hadn't been to the beach as a family since Katelyn was 3 months old and she hated every second of it then. Not this time! She LOVES water and swimming. She even had more fun with her best buddy Emmalyn.

Katelyn was asking for her friend Emmalyn the whole way there and apparently Emmalyn cried for Katelyn the whole way too! They were both very happy to get out of the car and see each other!

We got to the beach about 11:30 and the tide was pretty much non existent so the beach was pretty muddy. Of course, that was the first thing the girls found when they got there!

Finally the tide came in and Katelyn thought the "Big Waves" were cool.

She'll probably hate me for this later, (But it's so funny!!) but she is so skinny that she couldn't keep the bottoms of her swim suit up. At first it was just a bit, but they got loaded down with sand and I was worried that the next time she would run up the beach they would be around her ankles. Good thing I brought another suit, so we just changed out the bottoms for non matching bottoms, but at least they stayed up!

And like I said, she just LOVES the waves! And wanted to always be out there!

It was a great day had by all and something we will be doing again!

Busy Weekend

We had a busy, but fun weekend.
We went to KC on Friday and did a little shopping at The Legends.

Saturday we went to Bass Pro and then to my cousin, Amy's, wedding.
It was so fun getting to see some extended family!

Then Sunday on the way back, we stopped at my Grandma's house and we got to meet another new member of the family, lil Cooper. (He's already 6 months old; that's one of the bummers about living so far away. The little ones aren't so little by the time we actually get to meet them.)


Katelyn was trying to play with him.
Next time we see him he'll be even more mobile than he is now and she'll really have fun!

Katelyn was a great traveler the entire weekend. Only getting a short nap each of the 3 days, she was one tired little girl at night. She slept all night both nights in her pack and play--this is quite the accomplishment for us!! She has never been a big fan of it; so now I'm hopeful we can go on a few more overnight trips and no one should be sleep deprived!
