Slurping Peaches

I'm not sure where Katelyn picked this up from -
Jack and I sure don't eat like this,
but for the last few days she has eaten her peaches like this.
Not peas or corn or green beans, just peaches.

Silly girl but we love her!

Kitchen helper

Katelyn helped me make mashed potatoes for dinner last night.
She really thought she was a big shot!
I may have created a monster now!

I can't wait until she can do more in the kitchen!
I'll have a little helper!

If you look closely you'll see folks placed in front of all the chairs.
Katelyn has learned how to set the table at school.
So every night I give her the utensils for the table and
she takes them over and puts them in Daddy's, Mommy's and Katelyn's spot.
She's good about putting one folk, one butter knife and then moving on to the next one.
It's so stinkin' cute!

President's Day Weekend

We enjoyed a 4 day weekend in honor of President's Day being on Monday. We didn't do a lot; I was fighting off what I thought were just allergies, but turns out it's more than just allergies and then on Monday Katelyn woke up pretty miserable. So now, there are 2 snotty nosed people at our house...hopefully Jack can stay clear of it. We did take advantage of the nice weather this past weekend and got some much needed cleaning of the vehicles done and some other little projects around the house. When trying to clean out closets, rooms, etc, why does it seem like more of a mess gets made than when you started?!

We went out to play in the sandbox, but only to find it sitting in about 3 inches of water. (I didn't take a before picture) This picture is after we got most of the water out. Not sure how it fill so full of water, because Mr. Turtle has a shell for a lid - Guess in all the inches of rain we've gotten lately.

The excess water didn't keep Katelyn from climbing right in!

She was one DIRTY little girl when she got through. Definitely warranted a bath before dinner!

Daddy said this was the perfect consistency for playing in the sand!

On Monday, Jack graciously volunteered to drive with another guy from our church to a nursery in FL (about 4 hours from here) to pick up some trees and shrubs for the new building. They needed trucks and of course ours was big enough that they didn't have to take multiple vehicles! (Our church is in the process of building their very first church home and it should be finished in May. We're all very excited about this! No more meeting in the funeral home! ha!) So while Jack was gone all day, Katelyn and I lazed around feeling sorry for our sick selves ha!

Hope ya'll had a fun and relaxing weekend!

Feeling Crafty

cLately I've been in the crafty mood. I've been following some blogs that had different cheap and easy Valentine's things on it so I thought I'd give them a try. Katelyn also got invited to a Valentine's Party so I had a reason to make some fun valentines for all the kiddos.

These are gum ball necklaces!

I made the heart wreath and the letters.
I'd put the wreath on the front door if only it wouldn't clash with it (it's maroon).

Next year when I have more time to decorate, these won't go next to each other. I also have been working on tissue paper rosette balls. I wanted to have 2 of them done for Valentine's Day to put on little pillars on the mantle, but they take forever and well...I didn't get them finished. I'm going to keep plugging away on them and have them ready for next year!

Valentine's Day

Our cute Lil Valentine!

Today Katelyn was invited to a her first Valentine's Day Party! We didn't get to stay for the whole thing because I had the luncheon to go to, but she had fun for the time we were there.

She enjoyed playing with the train table and cars.

Katelyn had a Dora the Explorer kind of Valentines Day! We got Katelyn a Dora the Explorer backpack and little doll that says several sayings when you squeeze her. She loves backpacks right now and says the word "backpack" in the cutest little way.

Grandma and Papa W got her some Dora panties and a Dora Valentines book.

Grammie and Pops J got her Dora plate set and books! Da Da Da Dora!

Jack and I were able to get a babysitter on Friday night to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early. We went out to dinner, bowling and ice cream! Not too exciting but there isn't a whole lot to do in our town and it was just nice to be able to go out without going out for an Army function.

Hope ya'll had a Happy Valentine's Day too!!

Dr. Biden and Mrs. Casey

Today, I got the honor to go to a luncheon with about 100 other spouses and soldiers in which Dr. Biden (VP Biden's spouse) and Mrs. Casey (General Casey's spouse) made an appearance. They are making stops at a few different posts to talk with spouses regarding some of the needs we may have, whether it be AER, ACS, Education, etc. Dr. Biden and Mrs. Casey were only here for a short period, but stories and issues were shared with them before arriving.

On Thursday I got a call from our previous battalion commander's spouse asking if I would be interested in attending this luncheon with her and 2 other spouses from our old battalion. I couldn't have felt more honored that she asked me, especially when there were many, many other spouses that she could have asked!

Left to Right:
Mrs. Cucolo (Gen Cucolo's spouse, Commanding General on post), Mrs. Casey, and Dr. Biden

1-30th IN folks with Dr. Biden (in the red suit)

Post has been crazy busy with preparations since about Friday. Schools were getting paint jobs and yards mowed, MPs on every corner, and security extra high. Today, news camera's were everywhere, as were the Secret Service. I can't imagine what she must feel like with this crazy entourage she has to travel with! I think it would take some getting used to! When she arrived in the parking lot, the room was on lock down until she got into the building and when she left, we were not allowed to leave the room until she was locked in a separate room ( I know kind of sounds like they held her hostage for a while! haha)

As I was leaving post today, there were 4 helicopters
(Jack would know what kind of helicopters they are but he's not here so to me they are just helicopters...sorry aviators!) in the front of Building 1.
This is the building Jack worked in when we first got to Ft. Stewart...it houses the Division Staff.

It was a great experience today and both Dr. Biden and Mrs. Casey were super nice!
Both have had sons deployed overseas, and of course, Mrs. Casey has had her husband gone numerous times as well, so they could both put themselves in our shoes.
