Katelyn's T-Ball Pictures!

Katelyn's T-Ball team, The Rockies, decided to forgo paying a photographer to take team pictures. So, all the parents just lined them up and started snapping away. I think it turned out just fine and turned out much cheaper. After all, they are only 4!

My cute little Rockies tball player!

Katelyn and Lee were in class together at Westside Baptist preschool. They were so cute together. I said, stand by Lee and we'll get a picture and he automatically grabbed her hand. 4 year old are adorable!

The only girls on the team!

A team picture! It's impossible to get all 10 of them to look in the same direction and pretend to enjoy being there!
Katelyn enjoyed the season more and more as the games went on. She wasn't a fan of the games or practices when it was really hot, but I think she wants to play again next year. Mommy's happy! :)

T-ball

Tball started a couple weeks ago and even though we are going to miss out on a few games, she still wanted to play and the director said "Sign Up!"

The first couple practices were rough because it was reallllllly hot and the heat was doing her in! We got a cool spell and she started having more fun. The team started with 2 female coaches that didn't have any children on the team but were "told" they had to coach. Needless to say, they had no desire to be there and it was a huge mess. We weren't even called about team info - I had to call 4 times to get anywhere. So after a few parents saw how ridiculous the first few practices were going, one stepped up and said that he would take over. Things went much better after that and that is when she started enjoying it and actually learning something. There was too much standing around before and it was boring, but the new parents engaged every child the whole practice.

Her team name was "The Rockies" and their colors and logo were matching the Colorado Rockies.  Each player got a hat, shirt and pants. The smallest size was MASSIVE on Katelyn. The shirt went to her knees and she could have pulled up her pants to mid chest. I think she needs to find a Rockies team to be on for the next few years because she'll still have a uniform that will fit! (Unfortuately all of the tball pictures except these were somehow deleted off my camera :( )
She was all excited about her braided pony tail.

Katelyn at bat!!!

I'm glad she enjoyed it and I hope she continues to enjoy it!

T-Ball

Katelyn had her 5th of 6 mini tball sessions. It was a lot of fun tonight! They set up 2 infields in the gym and had each of the kids hit the ball off the tee and run to first base. They would then run to the next base each time the next kid hit. It was great practice and Katelyn did Awesome!! It was crazy how it just wasn't registering with some kids after like 50 times that you hit the ball, drop the bat and run to first. Not to mention there was a parent at each of the bases telling them to run and asking them repeatedly in between each play where they were going to run next. Not to brag, but out of the 4 that were in our group, Katelyn was hitting the ball the hardest and would automatically drop the bat and head to first. At least none of the kids tried running the wrong way after hitting! Maybe she's going to be a little softball player! Her t-ball league starts in a few weeks! She's pretty excited (as am I!)

Gotta start out the session with a little stretching!

And just a bunch of random pictures for the evening.

Our little set up.

And she's off to third base! (Or last base as she wants to call it- we're working on that one! Especially because 3rd base is close to my heart :) )

Great hit!

Ready to head to 2nd base....where I was standing.

She smacked this one!

And was off!

And then there's Will! He just walked all over throwing and chasing a ball until it was all over and he could get his hands on one of the bats. Future baseball player?? Fine by me!

Mini Tball - Weeks 1 & 2

Katelyn has been doing "mini t-ball" for that past 2 weeks. It's similar to the mini soccer she did a month ago in that it meets every Tuesday night for an hour and they work on skills related to that sport.  The first two nights we worked on catching, throwing and ground balls.

Catching at this age is pretty much how well can the thrower aim to hit it in the glove. They don't move their glove much to catch the ball; the hand eye coordination is still developing. We have been trying to get it through her head to use 2 hands. At first she said she didn't want to use 2 hands and then she finally tried it and caught several balls in a row and she was convinced. Sheesh....the stubbornness!

I showed her right at the start how to throw correctly and she pretty much has that down and can chuck it pretty hard and far....3rd base maybe?!?!

YAY for 2 hands!!!
And then they worked on field ground balls. She was doing pretty well and would put the other hand over the ball to keep it from popping out.

Love the ready stance!

And it's going in!

It is pretty crazy in the gym with lots of 3 year olds chasing balls everywhere.  And quite amusing too! She seems to enjoy it pretty well and says she likes playing. I hope this continues. I'd love to be her "coach" someday and CAN.NOT wait until she can play on a team and have games. I know she is wanting that too so hopefully next year.

Next week we are going to start hitting off the tees. Talk about craziness!
