Backyard Fun!

 Fall is right around the corner and I'm stoked!! It's so nice to be able to FINALLY go outside and not roast! We are finally getting to take more advantage of the swingset. I was too much of a pansy this summer to go out for more than a few minutes. Katelyn has also figured out how to swing much better and by herself. She figured it out by watching the big kids at school.

 

And don't forget about Will! He enjoyed rolling around on a blanket, but also managed to find his way off the blanket and into the wet grass/dirt. Boys!!

 

Reading to Baby

Lately Katelyn has been very interested in books, and by that I mean in her reading them herself. If she doesn't know the story she'll just make it up as she goes. It's pretty cute to listen to her read her books to her babies. I'm sure they really enjoy her stories ;)

Cake Frosting

This weekend Grammie and Pops came to town to watch the kiddos on Friday night while Jack and I went to a dining out for his work. Joann brought a cake for my birthday that is Wednesday and she let Katelyn help her frost it. You should have seen Katelyn's face when she asked her if she wanted to help frost it....YAYYYYYY!!!! Joann is sure brave...I'm not sure I would have been that brave, but I guess what do you have to lose? It wasn't going to the fair or anything and Grammie was right there to supervise.

Good job sweetheart! And thanks to Grammie for being so brave and letting her help! I see more of this in her future...especially when it comes to working with the grandmothers.....they just seem to have more patience for this sort thing than I do ;)

First Field Trip - Pet Store!

Katelyn's school went on there first field trip - on the second week of school! I'm impressed. It sounds like they will be doing lots of different trips. Guess we'll see what they have in store for the  kids!

The theme for the second week of school was "Pets." So what better place to go than the pet store. And fortunately, it happens to be just down the road. They did take the bus which Katelyn was pretty excited about! They got to see lots of different creatures and even pet some.

Time to head back to school!

I was pretty impressed with how good of listeners the kids were - 15 3 year old could be a bit out of conntrol! They all behaved so well! During the "pet" week at school, Katelyn came home a couple of times and said that she wanted a kitty. Sorry honey - no kitties in this house!! Since then, we haven't heard her request for a kitty again so luckily it was just a phase. Whew!!

Meet the Teacher Night and the First Day of School!

On Tuesday night (August 28), we had meet the teacher night at Katelyn's new preschool - Westside Baptist. Her new classroom is great! It's packed full of lots of fun things - she's going to have a BLAST! She's been asking about going to her "new school" for the last couple of months so I'm very glad that the time is almost here!

She was not the least bit apprehensive. She could have cared less that I left. It was so nice to not have the child that was crying on the first day of school!

She had a blast on her first day and can't wait to go back tomorrow. I'm sure that come Friday she is going to be disappointed that there is no school. Now if only her love for school will stay. I guess we'll see what she thinks in about 5 years!

Labor Day Weekend

After waiting out Tropical Storm Isaac (they were calling for 8-12 inches of rain and we weren't sure we wanted to leave if that much rain was headed our way) which petered out before it got to us, we headed down the road a couple hours to spend the weekend with Grammie and Pops. Even though we didn't get the 8-12 inches, we sure got plenty of rain, so it was a wet weekend.

Katelyn, of course, had a blast and got plenty of attention!

She finally figured out that she can drive the car, so she gave Will a little ride. Surprisingly, he wasn't scared! And don't worry folks, there were plenty of adults right there and she only went a few feet with him in the car.)

Grammie and Pops have lots of driveway to drive the car on.

We had a good time; got to hang out with some friends on Saturday night and go swimming. It was a nice weekend!
