{Katelyn} 4 years old

Our little girl is growing up so fast!

She loves girly things like playing dress up with her princess dressed and playing barbies, but yet, loves to do other things like help Daddy with whatever he is working on or playing with cars. She doesn't mind getting dirty, most of the time.

She LOVES to dance and sing! She is always dressing up in her princesses dresses just about as soon as we get home from school.

She LOVES playing board games or other games and would play them all the time if she had someone to play with. (Mom has other things to do during the day than play candy land all day!) However, she isn't the best loser yet. I guess that comes with age.

She is a genuine goofball! And loves to joke around with the best of them. She'll say something and I'll look at her like really? And she'll say "I'm just joking!" Silly girl!

She is in love with anything Disney Princess right now. I can't really say that she has a favorite but she is pretty stuck on Rapunzel from Tangled right now. She still talks about how she wants to go back to Mickey's house (Disney World). We went to see Disney on Ice in March and she loved seeing all the princesses but her favorite was Rapunzel.

She LOVES LOVES LOVES her brother! And he LOVES LOVES LOVES her too! He can't wait to see her in the morning if she gets up after him and he loves going in to wake her up. He loves playing tag and peek a boo with her and she can make him laugh harder than any of us! It melts my heart to see these 2 interact. Of course, they have their moment when he won't leave her tower of legos or blocks alone or he takes something of hers, but I hope they continue to love each other this much!

This girl L.O.V.E.S to get her hair cut! She calls it "The Fancy Place." And I supposed it's a good thing that she loves going so much because her bangs need to be cut about once a month.

She could live outside if we let her! She just can't seem to get enough of it. She is starting to figure out how to swing on a big kid swing but still loves to go really high on the baby swings at the park. She's pretty fearless at the park.

She's has been going to Preschool at Westside Baptist Church (Westside Christian Academy) 4 mornings a week from 8:30-11:30 since September. I am amazed at how much she has learned and absorbed. Not to brag, but she is one of the top kids in her class ;) She started writing her name all by herself in October - far before any of her classmates and when I asked the teacher she said that she started doing it all on her own. She is constantly coming home with stickers from winning the coloring contest at school. She LOVES doing art projects and will sometimes try to replicate one that she's done at school at home. I'm afraid she is going to be rather bored in Kindergarten. Hopefully she'll have a teacher who will see that and try to challenge her more! I hope her love for school continues for the next 18 years!

Art show at school

A recent art project from school. They were talking about transportation for the week so they painted with cars.

Here is her name written out without any help! Pretty impressive for a 4 year old!
She is so curious about how things are made or why something is the way it is. So I get asked daily about things that I have no idea what the answer is. Often times it's while we are driving somewhere and I'll wonder where in the world that question came from. For example, She wanted to know how the gas got into the car and where it stayed and how it worked. I said you'll have to ask your father. So she asked Jack and he explained it to her and then showed her a replica of how a gas tank works by using a cup of ice and filling it with water. So the next time he went to get diesel (she always goes) she sat in the driver's seat and watched the gage go up as he filled it up. She was pretty impressed with that and it answered her question. I'm afraid we're in trouble because she's going to be outsmarting us by the time she gets to 4th grade! I love how her little brain is thinking and always working. But some of these questions are so out there!!! You just have to love a 4 year old's thinking!

She has participated in Mini Soccer and T-ball sessions on post and has enjoyed both of them. She's also been doing gymnastics once a week since October and I think it may be her thing! (I'm also secretly hoping she loves tball too!)

The teacher is pretty impressed with her upper body strength already. I hope we can find a class this good when we get to Leavenworth
